RULES FOR ENROLLMENT

to the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in 2010

Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the higher educational establishment of IV level accreditation, announces enrollment for 2010/2011 academic year.

The Diplomatic Academy accepts citizens of Ukraine under age of 40 who have completed higher education (Diploma of Specialist or Master degree) and fluent in one foreign language.

Training is conducted under the specialty "Foreign Policy" (licensed by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, number of license AB 506155 of 16.12.2009r.). Form of education - full term – 24 months.
 

Enrollment to the Diplomatic Academy is carried out under the government orders and contracts between the Academy and customers on terms that are defined by those contracts.


For government orders:

    * Diplomatic service employees, the conditions and procedure for sending of whom  to the Academy is regulated by the Internal directive of the MFA of Ukraine;
    * Citizens of Ukraine under age 40, who work in government bodies, dealing with external relations of Ukraine, have public service experience at least one year (at the last job place), occupy positions of V-VII categories, under the agreement of these authorities
and prior consent from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

Other citizens of Ukraine are enrolled under the contracts between the Academy and customers on terms that are defined by those contracts.

Citizens of other states are enrolled to the Academy under the international treaties of Ukraine, agreements concluded by the Academy with universities and organizations, individual contracts on terms provided by such contracts.
 

Applications for enrollment to the Diplomatic Academy are to be submitted in the period from June 01 to June 25, 2010.

Applicants should submit the following documents to the Enrollment Committee:

    * Application addressed to the Rector;
    * Personal card of government employee or personal record sheet from HR;
    * Autobiography;
    * Copy of the diploma of completed higher education (Diploma of Specialist or Master degree) and the Diploma Supplement (persons who have received appropriate education abroad submit legalized copy of diploma);
    
* Copy of the labor book certified in the established order;
    * Copy of the ID certificate;
    * Appointment of governmental body on education (for civil servants);
    * Medical certificate, form 086-y;
    * 4 photographs (two 4x6 and 3x4);
    * Envelope with a postal stamp;
    * Passport, military ID, diploma and supplements are to be presented in person.

Applications from all candidates are considered by the Board of the MFA of Ukraine.
 
Entrance examinations are held from July 01 to July 10, 2010. Those who enter the Academy take the following exams:

    * Contemporary international relations and foreign policy of Ukraine (oral);
    * Foreign language (oral);
    * Ukrainian language (dictation).

Entrance examinations are taken in the national language. Start of educational process 01 September 2010.

Trainees, who have completed the training program, passed state exams and defended their master's thesis, are awarded master’s degree in foreign policy and the diploma of the established type.

Employment of the Diplomatic Academy Graduates is provided by government agencies that sent them to training.

On March 31, 2010 a meeting of the teaching staff and students of the Diplomatic Academy, as well as representatives of research and analytical centers, professors and students from renowned universities in Ukraine was held with leading experts in the field of foreign policy and security Strobe Talbott - a former Deputy of State Secretary in the Clinton administration, the President of the most authoritative American "think tank" Brookings Institution, and Xavier Solana, the former EU High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy (1999-2009), former NATO Secretary General (1995-1999). Honourable guests visited the Diplomatic Academy on the invitation and due to support of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation and “Yalta European Strategy”. The moderator of the meeting was a well-known Ukrainian journalist Andriy Kulykov.

On March 22, 2010 Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine, MFA of Ukraine and Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University signed the Memorandum of Cooperation for the period of five years.

On February 17-21, 2010 Rector of the Diplomatic Academy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine prof. B. Humeniuk and the Head of Global and Regional Systems Department prof. S. Shergin participated in the international conference «"Yalta system" and the current world order: the problems of global and regional security». The conference was devoted to the 65-th anniversary of the Crimean (Yalta) conference and was held at the Livadia Palace-Museum (Yalta, Autonomous Republic of Crimea) with the participation of leading scientists, scholars, researchers, experts and practitioners from Ukraine and Russia, MPs of ARC, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps of Russia, USA, the United Kingdom and the European Commission to Ukraine.
