On 24 December 2007 a decision to establish a post-graduate study course specializing on 07.00.02 – World’s History in the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine was taken on the Board of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
Post-graduate studies are carried out on the following departments:
-Diplomatic and Consular Service;
-Foreign Policy and Diplomacy;
-European and Euroatlantic Policy;
-Global and Regional Systems
Requirements:
Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine announces a competition for acceptance for a full-time or part-time post-graduate study specializing on 07.00.02 – World’s History in 2009/2010 academic year.
Post-graduate study is carried out at the expense of:
-State budget – government order;
-Individual and companies costs – on terms of contract.
Candidates who wish to be accepted shall address the Academy’s Rector with the following documents:
·an application;
·a personnel registration form;
·copies of the 1st, 2nd, 11th passport;
·4 photographs 3 cm x 4 cm;
·a list of published research works and inventions (if applicable);
·a scientific report (summary) on a chosen research subject;
·a medical certificate, Form № 286-у;
·a copy of a higher education graduation diploma to confirm Specialist’s or Master’s degree and an annex to the diploma (those, who graduated abroad should provide a copy of a nostrified diploma), certified according to the proper procedure;
·a recommendation by an Academic Board of a higher education institution (if available);
·a certificate to confirm the passed PhD examinations·(if applicable);
·an address of an organization to benefit from the student’s postgraduate study on a government order basis;
·a copy of an identification number certificate ;
·a permanent residence certificate;
·an employment history book (if applicable) with a last dismissal record stating the ground of being accepted for a full-time post-graduate course on a full-time basis and a certificate from the last employer stating an average monthly salary, signed by the employer’s manager and chief-accountant. Both documents are to be handed in personally within the 10-day period after the acceptance for a post-graduate study course.
A passport and a higher education graduation diploma are to be handed in personally by a candidate.
The documents are to be handed in a binder with 2 envelopes included.
Entrance examinations are to be conducted in September 2009 (the dates of an interview and an entrance examination are to be set by the special Decree of the Rector of the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
The honour MA-holders graduated from the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and recommended for acceptance by the Academy’s Board of Academics could be accepted for postgraduate study based on an interview results. If the interview results show that they cannot be recommended for the acceptance, they retain the right to go through an entrance examination on a general basis.
All the other candidates shall go through the comprehensive entrance examination in scope of the state examination for their specialization as ruled by the Academy’s Board of Academics.
The students are being generally accepted based on the total amount of points, obtained for an entrance examination and a report. If case of an equal amount of the points, the candidates who have been recommended by an Academic Board of a higher education institution (faculty, institute) or a scientific authority, have successfully graduated in Masters and passed all or several PhD examinations shall prevail.
The candidates for postgraduate studying who have not been accepted based on the competition results retain the right to be accepted on a contract basis beyond the government order.
Conditions of acceptance:
The postgraduate students who study on a full-time basis and successfully comply with their individual study plans:
·obtain a state scholarship if accepted on a basis of government order according to Ukraine’s effective legislation;
·enjoy the up to two-month yearly holidays included to the post-graduate course duration.
Post-graduate students who study on a part-time basis and successfully comply with their individual study plans, enjoy the privileges stipulated by Ukraine’s effective legislation.
Mutual liabilities of the Academy and a student shall be specified in an agreement to be signed in the course of the first month of studying between the student and the Academy upon the latter being addressed by an organization to benefit from the student’s postgraduate study on a government order basis.
A gross breach of the Academy’s internal regulations, commitment of an offence, failure to comply with an individual study plan for unsubstantial reasons may result in the student’s expelling from the course.
An accepted on a basis of a government order post-graduate student whose expelling resulted from the aforementioned shall reimburse the course fees as it is stipulated by Ukraine’s effective legislation.
Duration of a full-time post-graduate study course shall not exceed 3 years; duration of a part-time post-graduate study course shall not exceed 4 years.
Applications will be accepted from 7 September till 30 September 2009.
On March 31, 2010 a meeting of the teaching staff and students of the Diplomatic Academy, as well as representatives of research and analytical centers, professors and students from renowned universities in Ukraine was held with leading experts in the field of foreign policy and security Strobe Talbott - a former Deputy of State Secretary in the Clinton administration, the President of the most authoritative American "think tank" Brookings Institution, and Xavier Solana, the former EU High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy (1999-2009), former NATO Secretary General (1995-1999). Honourable guests visited the Diplomatic Academy on the invitation and due to support of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation and “Yalta European Strategy”. The moderator of the meeting was a well-known Ukrainian journalist Andriy Kulykov.
On March 22, 2010 Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine, MFA of Ukraine and Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University signed the Memorandum of Cooperation for the period of five years.
On May 22, 2010 the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine holds an Open door day. Future applicants, their parents and dear guests are welcome to participate in the event.
On 23-24 February 2010 Professional Development Center for Diplomats held a thematic short-term workshop on diplomatic protocol and etiquette for diplomatic staff.
On February 17-21, 2010 Rector of the Diplomatic Academy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine prof. B. Humeniuk and the Head of Global and Regional Systems Department prof. S. Shergin participated in the international conference «"Yalta system" and the current world order: the problems of global and regional security». The conference was devoted to the 65-th anniversary of the Crimean (Yalta) conference and was held at the Livadia Palace-Museum (Yalta, Autonomous Republic of Crimea) with the participation of leading scientists, scholars, researchers, experts and practitioners from Ukraine and Russia, MPs of ARC, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps of Russia, USA, the United Kingdom and the European Commission to Ukraine.
